Chile – @darrenhadlum
Chile will be going to their 8th world cup finals and as with every
other side going goalkeepers will be an important part of the
squad. Here are the 3 goalkeepers who I believe will be there in Rio.
1: Claudio Bravo. Club:Real Sociedad(la liga) Caps:78 .Age:31. He
made his debut in 2004 and has been a full international since. He was
given the captains armband in 2007 when MaRcelo Salas retired. He
started all their matches in the 2010 world cup including their round
of 16 against Brazil. In all those he only conceded 5 goals (3 of which
were against Brazil).A lot of his admirers say he is almost “the
complete keeper”.
2: Miguel Pinto. Club:Correcaminos VAT.
Caps:21.Age:30. He made his debut in 2006 And has been no 2 to Bravo
since 2007.He was made no 3 for the 2007 Copa America but refused to
go.He has some experience which could prove vital if anything happens
to Bravo. He is a very competent goalkeeper.
This final choice was harder due to Chile using 3 fairly inexperienced gks recently but I
believe the 3rd choice will be:
3:Johnny Herrera.Club:Universidad De
Chile.Age:32.He made his debut in 2002 and has been occasionally called
into the squad since then.He was called into the squad for the first
time in 7 years back in 2013 and was recently called into the squad
against Germany in march 2014.I believe he will go only due to the fact
of being more experienced than the other 2 Fairly uncapped gks.
