So today 30 May 2017 Man City are heavy linked with Benfica’s Ederson and at the time of writing Bournemouth Fc have confirmed the signed Asmir Begovic from Chelsea FC. Jo Hart is set to return from Torino back to Man City after a mixed season in Italy but for how long is unknown.
Across Europe we have been hearing glowing reports about Atlético Madrid’s Jan Oblak and AC Milan’s Gianluigi Donnarumma.
The Premier League Full of International Goalkeepers from all around the globe.
Jordan Pickford has had a fanstatic season personally or though Sunderland have sufford the drop from the Premier League. Jack Butland returned from Injury to regain his place in the Stoke City starting 11 to finish the season.
With the number of imported Goalkeepers which command a high fee and seem to be ready made for English Football where does this leave the young home Grown Goalkeepers?
Where do the further lie for English Goalkeepers?
After a quick Browse though the Premier League teams Bournemouth show Ryan Allsop amoung there First team squad but he has spent much of the season away from the club on Loan.
Burnley have had almost ever present Tom Heaton apart from when ex England Goalkeeper Paul Robinson had to stand in. Even though the have Nick Pope who has signed from Charlton Athletic in summer of 2016.
Man City have Angus Gunn who has spent a lot of time in and around the England Youth Teams. This season began by being promoting into Man City Premier League squad but has made 0 apperance this season.
Man United have Sam Johnson. Sam has been around the Club for a number of years he has had serveral loan moves and finished last season out on loan at Aston Villa. Now at 24 is Sam able to become a first choice premier league Goalkeeper and go on to represent the national side?
Newcastle United just been promoted back to the Premier League. They have a great Goalkeeper in Karl Darlow. Darlow was loved by the Nottingham Forrest Fans before his move to Newcastle. At Newcastle he has failed to gain hold of the number one spot in the Championship. Is now at 26 Darlows time to become a Premier League number 1?
Southampton have a contingent of England Goalkeepers. England International Fraser Forster other English Goalkeepers are Alex McCarthy, Stuart Taylor and young shot stopper Harry Lewis Signed from Shrewbury in 2015. Now 19 No league games under his belt is now time to go out on loan and get some much needed game time under his belt.
Stoke City have England Goalkeeper Jack Butland in there Squad. Jack was heavly missed when injured last season. Looking at there squad listing they do not hold much in reseve when it comes to young English Goalkeepers in the first team setup.
West Brom have Ben Forster as the Clubs number one. Young Jack Rose was promoted to the first team setup from the youth setup. Jack now 22 has only had a handful of games out on loan. Does Jack need to move away to propel his career?
This raises a few questions.
How can we Delevop Goalkeepers so they can progress into the worlds elite?
Do we need to chance the type of coaching offered?
Is this a problem which starts for Goalkeepers at a young age?
Do coaches need to focus more on techniqual, tactical, physical or physicalical side of the game than we currently do?
Is it down to the contact time was Goalkeeper coaches?
Do Goalkeepers have to little exposer to the outfielders when training?
Do we have the answers to help create a generations of Goalkeepers good enough to play the top level thoughout the world?
