Mexico Goalkeepers Brazil 2014

The Mexican squad for the World Cup in the Summer of 2014 is lucky to be blessed with three very good goalkeepers, the best known of whom is Gio Ochoa who plies his trade in the French Ligue 1with Ajaccio . Despite this he is likely to start as 2nd or even 3rd choice GK !

Moises Munoz Age: 34   Caps: 13 Club:America (Mexico) 6.1”

Munoz looks likely to start as Mexicos Number 1 seeing as though he started in both of their Qualifying play off games versus New Zealand. Despite his fairly small totl of caps he is vastly experienced and has been around the Mexican squad for 10 years. He is strong in the air and is well known for his excellent distribution and ability to save penalties.

Alfredo Talavera Age:31 Caps:13 Club: Toluca (Mexico)6.2”

Another vastly experienced GK who despite only 13 caps has been in and around the squad for a long time. Very good shot stopper and very good at commanding his 18 yard box. He was the Mexican number 1 when the team won the 2011 Concacaf Gold Cup.

Guillermho (Gio) Ochoa Age:28 Caps :56 Club: Ajaccio(France) 6.0”

The best known of the 3 Mexican goalkeepers, “Gio” is a flamboyant and very capable GK ! He made his international debut in 2005 and was in the squads for the 2006 and 2010 World Cups but didn’t make an appearance in either. He was initially No1 at the 2011 Concacaf Cup before he and 3 teammates were banned after drug testing. The ban was later overturned after the Mexican FA proved the positive test was due to contaminated meat. A very popular player at club level who has won Player Of The Year at Ajaccio for the past two seasons.
